Free Voice-Over And Audio Dubbing Software: DubIt, Courtesy Of TechSmith

On MasterViews International presentation expert Chiara Monetti points at a little tool that allows you to add a voice-over to images and movies. The best part about DubIt Audio Editor is that it is provided for free by TechSmith, whose flagships SnagIt and Camtasia Studio have been among my favorite tools for years.

Chiara writes:

DubIt also supports narration over AVI, BMP, GIF and JPG files. Output movies in AVI, RM, or ASF formats.

With DubIt you can quickly create a narrated photo montage or documentary-style movie presentation with narratives and a sound track.

To generate the voice tracks is very simple: load any movie or image, press record and start talking. When you finish recording, DubIt will save the combined video and recorded audio track as a movie.

DubIt can be used for a multiplicity of applications:

  • To create online training movie clips with voice narration
  • To add emotion to images from digital camera or scanner by adding voice, music, or sound effects
  • To annotate images, screen captures, movies with absolutely no typing or image markup tools

In addition, DubIt:

  • Extends the length of a movie or image to hold a sound track of any length, and can optimize the extended video to make the movie file size as small as possible.
  • Performs absolutely no video re-compression.
  • Gives you full control over the movie playback size while you are adding audio -full screen size movies can be played without any resizing.
