CVision Technologies announced the release of a desktop version of its pdfCompressor Acrobat PDF file compression software.
Like the professional version, pdfCompressor Desktop Edition compresses PDF files to one-tenth their regular size.
As an example, the software can compress a typical 10-page 300 dpi PDF image file, from 1MB to just 95K bytes.
pdfCompressor facilitates to e-mail attachments containing PDFs, making transmission more reliable and faster.
The professional version of the software, pdfCompressor Professional, is designed for power PDF users and can compress entire directories of PDF files at one time.
The new desktop version is targeted at users who are need to compress only limited number of files and will not suffer from missing a batch management facility. The desktop version also does not compress files with more than 100 pages.
The new desktop version costs just $349 per user vs. the professional version, which starts at $2,000.

70 MB free hard disk space
pdfCompressor also offers an API Toolkit for large organizations who would want to consider integrating this powerful technology into their larger applications. The PdfCompressor 2.1 API supports both Microsoft Visual C++ and Microsoft Visual Basic.
