Social Networking At Its Best: Meets Meets

"If there's something bothering you in your area and you want to do something about it, you've come to the right place."

The British Broadcasting Corporation has launched a sophisticated activism Web site that it hopes will get people more involved with their communities and provide tools to help them get government officials to address their concerns.

The new service, launched on Oct. 22 is called iCan and is presently still in beta stage.

iCan, integrates social networking, content publishing and campaign-organization tools to support social and political activism.

On the site free access services are offered to:

a) find people and organizations,

b) find key information and guides,

c) get support for your idea

d) arrange a local meeting

e) find or offer skills

f) start a campaign

To find out more.
