If you are into data visualization the name of Inxight should send some positive thrills down your spine. The company has been at the forefront of data visualization techniques for many years and is especially well known for its hyperbolic maps.

Hyperbolic maps allow the effective visualization and navigation of large data structures and information spaces. To get a simple example look at Inxight own sitemap built as an hyperbolic map:

Inxight, has now released two free tools that allow the creation, publication and viewing of hyperbolic maps (also called star maps) that contain a maximum of 300 nodes.

Star Tree Studio, which is free to individuals, education and non-profit organizations allows the creation of effective star tree maps which are particularly useful for mapping Web site structures or other digital content repositories.

A Star Tree Viewer is also freely available for viewing Star Tree maps saved in .stz format.
