The News Contact Directory is a new online service provided by NewsWise, an online resource focusing on providing search tools for reporters.
Newswise has created a freely accessible online directory of experts across many professional categories. In particular the directory covers business, scientific, medical and liberal arts. The organizations listed in this directory are either NGOs, non- Profits, Government agencies or Academic institutions.
The directory is very US oriented and while it is possible to submit the name of a private companies and the names of its experts, it is not possible to search for "private companies".

a) News Libraries
Newswise maintains a comprehensive database of news releases from top institutions engaged in scientific, medical, liberal arts and business research. The friendly interface allows you to search, browse or download any article or abstract. SciNews MedNews BizNews LifeNews
b) PressPass
With a free PressPass - - username and password -- reporters may access all embargoed news releases, as well as subscribe to SciWire, MedWire, BizWire or LifeWire. PressPass holders may scan these digests offline, then retrieve individual articles via an on-demand email service. These privileged access services are reserved exclusively for full-time professional journalists who agree to honor embargoed material.
c) Expert Query for Reporters
Reporters may use the expert finder tool as a brokering technique to find knowledge-based experts at hundreds of universities. Newswise forwards your query to the 350+ higher education and research institutions participating here. They reply directly to the reporter via phone or email. Please include your publication name, a thorough and colorful description of the expert needed, deadline, phone number and email address.
