38) Pictures from Old Books
http://fromoldbooks.org/

Pictures from Old Books is a unique collection of over 800 images scanned from old books that are public domain (copyright-free or out of copyright) unless otherwise noted. The site has many pictures of castles, abbeys and old houses. The home page has new images on the left side or you can use the search tool with various options to find pictures.
When you find a photo of interest and click on it, the listing provides its title, source, place shown (if applicable), keywords, status (in terms of copyright), filename and notes. Each photo also comes in several dimensions shown on the left of the photo, so you just click on the size you want. It has many photos you won't find elsewhere that can add character to wherever you use them.

37) Free Stock Photos from Cepolina Photos
http://www.cepolina.com/freephoto/

Free Stock Photos from Cepolina Photos contains over 1900 photos by three photographers covering mostly nature and geography. You can search photos by category, thumbnails or keywords. The thumbnails page shows about 100 photos and when you select one, its details includes the album and category names with links so you can explore more similar photos.
The photos are free (see FAQs for details) as long as the site is credited and that you don't link directly to the images of the web site as that's stealing bandwidth. The images on the site are 600x460 pixels. If you want larger photos, you can buy the high resolution images on DVD for $40 (currently sold out). The photo collection is superb.

36) ImageBase
http://davidniblack.com/imagebase/

ImageBase is a collection of over a few hundred photos on nature, people, city, and objects taken by presumably one person, David Niblack. Though a small database in comparison to others, you can expect to find quality photos here. The site clearly states that "all images are 100% free to use." Click on one of the categories to view its thumbnail images on the left side of the screen and the currently selected photo in full size on the right side.
The bottom of the photo provides the date taken, resolution, and file name. Select any image from the thumbnails or click on Next Page to see the next set of thumbnails. After clicking on a thumbnail, the full image appears on the right. If you click on the full image, it takes you to the next one. To save the image, right-click on it and save it. The collection has quality photos worth looking at.

The categories are animals, culture, landmarks & buildings, objects and people. You can also limit the search results by date and sort by number of views.
The world map appears on the site where you can click on a city to view the pictures from the city. At the bottom of the map are statistics, the number of pictures added in the last 24 hours, city of the day, member of the month and a "Did you know?" answer. Did you know you can browse through the highest rated pictures in the search tab? Did you know that English is the third language in the world? The site has a monthly newsletter with interesting articles. Registration is required only if you wish to upload files and join the community through the forum. Woophy is a quality site with a lot to offer.

34) pixelbag.de
http://www.pixelbag.de/

pixelbag.de is a free picture archive of over 500 license-free photos. All pictures can be used without a credit or a reference. Though the site is primarily in German, those who don't know German shouldn't have a problem finding something since the categories and navigation are in English. The search tool and its results are in German, but you can use English keywords. The quality of the photos are worth looking pass the minor language barrier.
You can browse images by viewing the top rated ones, the newest or a random photo. Each photo displays the date taken, number of hits, number of downloads and the photographer. You can vote on the picture and download it photo as a JPG or as a zipped file. Small, but lovely collection.
