Text Chat

WebTrain provides a full text chat module as part of his Web conferencing solution. As a matter of fact, the screen estate area reserved for this facility may be considered excessive for certain applications. On the other hand educational applications may greatly appreciate the large amount of space reserved for chat exchanges though this may prevent the user from effectively carrying out other tasks as the main collaboration pane is all occupied by the chat exchange taking place.

It is possible to conduct a private chat session with any of the attending participants.

The presenter can also open up a two-way chat session with any of the participants allowing also a two-way full duplex live voice session to take place between the two parties. Unfortunately due to yet excessive delay and latency factors this mode can only be taken full advantage of only if both parties effectively utilize heaphones during audio exchanges.

A transcript of the text chat exchanges can be easily saved to a file through the click of a dedicated button.

Text can be easily selected, copied and pasted into other applications.

Text in the chat window cannot be easily formatted according to preferred styles and font sizes. A set of default global settings can be set to determine the default font size and look in the text chat window.

Auto-URL detection is not available.

Webtrain provides a "coarse language filter" with the text chat facility allowing the host/moderator to limit and control the use of inappropriate language inside any live meeting.
