Events can be easily recorded both by the presenter and by the attendees of a live session if the presenter has granted them this privilege. (By default, only the meeting host and the presenter can record a meeting.) To record a session the presenter is only required to call in the WebEx Recorder (accessible under the Tools menu as "Start Recording"). During recording, you can annotate the Meeting window and any shared software.

Recordings can be easily saved and played back utilizing the WebEx Player, which is automatically installed on your computer once you are recording a meeting.

Recording audio is optional. WebEx Recorder automatically synchronizes audio with a sequence of user interactions in a meeting. When recording audio, WebEx Recorder captures approximately 15 MB of data per hour of recording. Without audio, WebEx Recorder captures approximately 10 MB of data per hour of recording. However, when recording frequent actions in an application or meeting, WebEx Recorder may capture significantly more data.

Currently WebEx Recorder does not capture audio in an Internet phone (voice over IP) conference.

A unique feature of WebEx is the ability to save any image or content that is appearing within the main display window (called "content viewer") in a special format that can be later recalled back and utilized for faster presentation of content.

You can save any shared document, presentation, or whiteboard that appears in the content viewer. A saved file contains all the pages or slides of the document/ presentation/ whiteboard currently displayed in the content viewer, including annotations and pointers that you or other attendees added to them.

Files are saved in the WebEx Document Format (ucf). You can open a .ucf file either in another meeting or any time outside of a meeting.
