OverviewBorn in 2003, Voxwire is a company that provides end user and reseller access to one of the most interesting web conferencing technologies around. Launched January 21, 2003, Voxwire Global Meeting Rooms provide access to the same technology powering VCOM Central, Orbitalk, Roomtalk.net and partly also Webconference.com. (Please note that Voxwire is indeed the very supplier of this technology to the Orbitalk service.) Voxwire is actively involved in deploying "private-label" installations of this technology, where a company can obtain either online meeting rooms directly from them, or can obtain a server allowing them to resell the service to others (just like Orbitalk does). The technology, features and facilities available through Voxwire are exactly the same ones accessible through a monthly account with any one of the above listed services VCOM Central, Roomtalk.net and Orbitalk.com. The unique and unmatched key benefit of the technology employed by Voxwire is the excellent quality of the voice conferencing module that allows dial-up users at great distances to easily voice-communicate without problems. This core voice conferencing technology, which leverages an audio compression codec that requires less than 20 Kbps of bandwidth (!), is well complemented by a solid text chat facility, a Web touring module, file broadcasting and basic moderator features. The company that has developed this excellent technology, Simple Software (http://www.howudodat.com/), is further refining the technology and adding new features, and it uses a number of marketing and distribution partners like Voxwire to facilitate its goal of staying focused on its design and development goals. Voxwire is the strategic partner for distribution of Simple Software's technology through an online credit card interface with 2-Person and Group Room options. Use and access of the Voxwire Global Meeting Rooms is extremely easy and simplified. No installation of software is required and text chatting, Web touring and excellent audio conferencing are just one link away. Performance is in most cases excellent even over moderately low-speed dial-up lines (28.8 Kbps).
The interface layout is optimised for 800*600 and it does not adapt well to higher resolutions. While it does properly maximize to fill the screen when maximized, the next time a session is run the interface will not load up correctly. (This is a problem afflicting all of the products utilizing this technology). The interface panels are modular and resizable, but by adjusting them unpredictable display errors occur and one needs to reset the layout as by default. Screenshots of the Voxwire interface are accessible at: A well prepared Voxwire MeetingRoom Illustrated User's Guide is freely accessible at: A searchable FAQ area is available at: A demo room, where you can test the voice quality of this technology is accessible at: System requirements are listed at:
