Voxwire MeetingRoom

Firewall Friendliness

« Browser Compatibility | Main | Setup - Installation »

According to Voxwire "the MeetingRoom has exclusive technology which automatically allows the MeetingRoom to detect and compensate for virtually all firewalls and/or proxy servers.

Testing shows that about 98% of all users are able to connect to the Voxwire Servers with no configuration changes on their computer or with their network settings or firewall configurations. The MeetingRoom can detect and compensate automatically for the following common network configurations:

  • Personal Firewalls (e.g., BlackIce, ZoneAlarm)

  • Corporate Firewalls (e.g., Checkpoint, Cisco PIX, Microsoft)

  • Protocol Aware Firewalls (e.g., Raptor, TIS, SecureIT)

  • Proxy Servers (e.g., Microsoft, Apache, Squid)

  • Automatic Proxy Configuration in the browser

  • Authenticated Connections (requiring a username and password)

Virtually all businesses in the world that have a permanent connection to the Internet have some type of firewall and/or proxy server configuration. Other VoIP products are rejected or prevented by these configurations. The Voxwire MeetingRoom is able to compensate for this limitation automatically, with no user intervention, making it a dependable business class application."

In my experience and extended testing with this technology I can confirm that the Voxwire MeetingRoom is able to overcome traditional obstacles posed by firewalls and other security mechanisms without any reconfiguration or setup.
