Institutional information is not always detailed, consistent and accessible. Several broken links can be found by navigating VoiceCafe official pages.
Several Web sites are accessible under the name VoiceCafe (www.voicecafe.com, www.voicecafe.org, www.voicecafe.cc and more) and while they seem all to belong to one same organization the information found in some areas is not consistent, precise and detailed enough. For a new user or potential customer this may appear to be a dangerous maze of interconnecting sites with similar domain names and URLs. In reality there is nothing to worry but yet the appearance and organization of some institutional content intermingled by VoiceCafe individual reseller marketing approaches may provide a sense of inconsistency and low-credibility upon responsible and attentive online potential customers.
In general, there appears no easy and immediate way to try out a VoiceCafe product unless you direct yourself to the golden domain of www.VoiceCafe.org. There you can find near real-time assistance in getting you inside your preferred VoiceCafe room to test it out in full.
As pointed out, in the VoiceCafe maze of Web sites many links are broken and inactive. For example, by accessing http://www.optecs.com/ one would have the opportunity to access a "demo room" area. By clicking on "Virtual Foyer" and then hovering your mouse onto the two gentlemen discussing near the elevator. (Watch out dial-up users, this page is a 1.1 MB download). In the official demo room, (as of my visit during January 2003) it was possible to access only the TourMaster demo, (and of course only if you knew the appropriate username/password combination). All other links to demo versions of VoiceCafe products were broken. (It is to be expected that the corporate management of VoiceCafe will soon take at heart this issue and work hard at better maintaining its web site(s) and the information provided through it.)
Text chat features are somewhat limited. No private messaging is available.
Audio over IP quality is quite good though voice quality is not completely crystal clear.
Memory hungry. Unless all of your other applications are closed you may have problems starting or logging into the SalesMaster room. Out of memory messages are frequent and you need simply to close all open applications and try again.
Use of Internet Explorer 6 with the latest Security Updates is recommended.
