Viditel provides an application sharing facility as its core collaborative feature outside audio/video/text conferencing. Through the application sharing facility it is possible to share any application open on your PC.

The presenter/moderator can choose to allow other participants to share their applications as well by accessing the controls available under the menu command Share -> Share settings...
To be able to share an application a user must request that the previous presenter "unshares" any application open and then a new program can be shared in the session.

To carry out an effective sharing session it is strongly suggested to utilize Viditel with a different interface/skin than the default one, as provided in the Options -> "Choose Skin" menu. To quickly switch between the regular Viditel skin and the document sharing skin, press Ctrl+T.

During my tests, results were mixed and not completely satisfactory, both on dial-up as well as on high-speed connections. Among the limiting factors was a poor refresh rate of my actions on the other participants screens, and the lack of controls and status indicators that could help carry out more effectively this activity.

It is hard to say when an application is being shared and what the others are actually seeing. It is also not possible to have the application shared going in "full screen" as I would have preferred when showing a PowerPoint presentation.

Quality of the images transmitted with Viditel application sharing facility are of the highest quality as they seem to be not compressed in any way. This requires a very large bandwidth to allow effective sharing of an application without long time delays. Unfortunately there are no controls to fine-tune the quality of the transmission making this facility not completely reliable and useful only for participants with a very good Internet connection (double ISDN, ADSL or better).

Overall I was not positively impressed by this facility.
