Until December 10th 2002 no security was provided to protect VCOM Central online meeting rooms. Even undesired users may have entered an official meeting or presentation without the host being able to avoid or prevent this. Once a virtual presentation room URL was known any user could re-access it anytime thereafter as no password or other security mechanism was available. To login you needed only to type in any screen name and no password was required. (Only once inside the virtual meeting room the moderator could ban selected users from the session).

While you could keep this low-level of security for ease of use if you are meeting only close friends and relatives, it is now possible to password-protect VCOM virtual rooms from the account "members only" area, under the button labeled "Configuration".

N.B.: A stealth mode in which it is possible to enter the room without being seen is available through this technology for monitoring purposes, but at present it is accessible only to VCOM staff.
