SightSpeed is a cutting-edge videoconferencing solution providing best of breed ease of use and audio-video quality for SOHO and corporate users on high bandwidth connections (256 Kbps up and downstream recommended).

SightSpeed presently offers only one-to-one videoconferencing, but will be shortly (end Q2 2004) providing a multi-party solution.

SightSpeed is a cross-platform videoconferencing product that fully supports Windows, Mac and Linux platforms.

SightSpeed is a breeze to install and use. A wizard guides the setup both the first time and anytime you change your network connection or any of your webcam or microphone settings.

Customer support is good, and all users (registered and non-registered) receive open and generous attention by the courteous and responsive online staff.

In addition to video and audio SightSpeed integrates a text chat facility and the ability to mute video or audio at will.

Quality of video is relatively good, depending much on the bandwidth available to your and the other connecting party. Lip-synch is absolutely perfect. There is virtually no perceivable delay (less than 200 ms)and a normal conversation can be carried out between two parties completely hands-free.

The use of an appropriate headset is recommended to avoid feedback through the microphone but other than this there are no perceivable annoying factots.

SightSpeed suffers on limited bandwidth lines but it doesn't give up working with users on 56K connections. Video becomes unusable (it automatically adjusts in size depending on bandwidth available or switches itself off if there is not enough) and you may be left only with the audio to work with. But that's better than nothing. In my personal opinion users on ADSL lines not offering an upload channel greater than 128 Kbps should not opt for SightSpeed yet.

SightSpeed integrates an effective browser-based "presence-awareness" engine, allowing the end user to monitor which one of her contacts are available for a call.

Last but not least SightSpeed offers a Web-based solution, effectively premiering a complete Web-video integration allowing end users to have a dedicated URL that when accessed opens up an immediate video session inside a Web page.

The pricing model adopted is very aggressive and allows users to do unlimited videoconferencing calls for less than $ 100/month.
