Text Chat

The text chat functionality is well developed in Microsoft NetMeeting and it offers a fully featured client that can send private messages, allows saving of the chat transcript and permits easy copy and paste of the chat text content. Like other NetMeeting modules the text chat window is a floating module that you can resize and place on the screen at will.

In the Options menu of the text chat application it is possible to create a set of different formatting styles to differentiate public and private messages and incoming from outgoing ones in whichever way the user wants to.

Each time a user types text into the chat window in addition to her name a date/time stamp can be displayed. (This is quite useful when chat transcripts are to be read after some time, as it would be impossible otherwise to catch the pauses and timing over which the original discussion took place.)

URL auto-detection is fully enabled and this little elegant application provides also a useful and rare print facility.

The NetMeeting text chat facility is a solid reference by which to measure other chat tools.
