Microsoft Live Meeting

Weak Points

« Key Strengths | Main | PowerPoint Presentation Facilities »

Live Meeting is a solid enterprise product which bears the fruits of several years of battleground experience provided by Placeware, the web conferencing system on which Live Meeting has been built.

Outside the issues of missing audio and video facilities, which Live Meeting sacrificed in favour of simpler and more reliable options, Live Meeting offers no major flaws.

A number of limitations may be found in how certain facilities work or in the lack of certain functions.

For example, it is quite disappointing to see the annotation facilities work only while in whiteboard mode.

While sharing a Web site through the Insert Web Slide facility the presenter cannot scroll the web page presented while having the participants see the same on their screens.

In whiteboard mode, images cannot be imported or pasted but need to be captured through the dedicated screenshot taking utility.

For some critical comments about this new Microsoft product see also my article entitled Microsoft Live Meeting Shows Microsoft Poor State Of Mind.
