PowerPoint Presentation Facilities

« Weak Points | Main | Web Touring - Co-Browsing »

Microsoft Live Meeting offers an excellent set of presentation facilities allowing the presenter to manage with maximum ease and great control the delivery of any live PowerPoint presentation.

Controls and presentation facilities are all very easy to operate and their use can be mastered in a very short time.

Navigation through presentation slides is very easy and made redundant in the interface by a double set of next and previous arrows placed both at the bottom and the top of the presenter interface.

Of great value and use is the Choose Presentation facility, which allows the presenter to select among different presentations at-a-glance, load them for presentation or to have a continuos overview of all upcoming slides in the presentation being delivered.

Many good shortcuts are now available making the presenter work extremely easy and efficient. Great usability. This is a very important feature when making a presentation online and I am surprised by the number of web conferencing tools that are still overlooking this aspect.

One great feature is one inherited by the original Placeware platform:"Print-to-PDF", a facility allowing participants to print to PDF any or all of the presentation slides showcased during a session. Very handy.
Still another great feature is the "Review Slides" facility allowing the presenter to preview at will any slide before actually showing to the audience. A real life saver for any professional presenter.

Another great facility available to the presenter/moderator and when selected in the Meeting Options also to all participants is the Review Slides feature. This dialog box provides access to a simple to browse list of all slides available in the uploaded presentation while providing a very useful "preview" of the contents of each slide in a completely "private" mode. Excellent.

Limitations

There is no option to send a presentation in full screen mode neither for the presenter nor for the participants.

It is not possible to annotate live any presentation slide. One must always take a snapshot before something can be amred and annotated.
