Linktivity WebDemo offers a Remote Control facility that allows the presenter/moderator to hand out control to any selected user. In WebDemo this feature is also called Remote Control.
Review Overview
This review discusses the following aspects of the remote control option within Linktivity WebDemo:
Enabling Remote Control
Remote control can be enabled only after the Desktop Sharing or the Application Sharing feature is activated.
There are two ways to enable remote control:
- by selecting an attendee and clicking the icon with the eye in the toolbar at the bottom of the host control panel
- by right-clicking on the attendee list and selecting Viewport > Enable Remote Control

Using Remote Control
Once remote control is enabled, the eye-shaped icon next to the name of each of the selected attendees turns green.

The participant may now operate the meeting host's screen using the keyboard and the mouse. To terminate the remote control session, the meeting host just repeats the simple step mentioned in Enabling Remote Control.
Cons:
- Using remote control requires patience of the host and the meeting participants because the screen is refreshed with a small delay. For short sessions this may not be problematic, but in longer sessions a more immediate feedback would be desirable.
- Remote control is not available in Co-Browse or File Transfer sessions.
Conclusion
Linktivity Webdemo remote control allows the meeting host to hand over full control to meeting participants. Remote control is available only in Desktop Sharing and Application Sharing sessions, not in Co-Browse or File Sharing sessions. To see how WebDemo's implementation of remote control compares to the one in other webconferencing tools, check the remote control comparison table in this Guide.
