WebDemo is a web collaboration tool developed by Linktivity. In October 2004 Linktivity was acquired by Inter-Tel, a provider of voice and data business communications systems, voice-mail systems and networking applications (INTL).

WebDemo: Real-Time Collaboration for Windows Users
WebDemo – a powerful, server-based solution that allows meeting presenters to collaborate real-time with invited participants – excels in its facilities to demonstrate, present and showcase content in any application. To benefit from all of the WebDemo features it is recommended that meeting participants use Microsoft Internet Explorer with a Java Virtual Machine engine running on the Windows platform.

State-of-the-Art Core Features
WebDemo's core strengths are desktop and application sharing. These two functionalities are well designed and offer several options to strike a balance between performance, quality and the available bandwidth. On top of these a good annotation toolbox allows meeting presenters and participants to make live annotations in application-sharing and co-browsing sessions. Combined with a flexible and reliable implementation of voice over IP and video conferencing these features make WebDemo particularly suited to demonstrate software tools and applications.

However, WebDemo is not the ideal tool to broadcast PowerPoint presentations and its text chat features are basic too, if not disappointing. International users, on the other hand, will appreciate WebDemo's courteous gesture of allowing them to switch between five different interface languages. On a technical level WebDemo is a very attractive product because it is capable of traversing across corporate firewalls without any additional configuration. WebDemo's security measures are sufficient for most corporate users of web conferencing software: the software provides host log-on authentication, meeting passwords and 128-bit data encryption. If desired WebDemo can operate on a certified server, allowing SSL server authentication and data encryption (HTTPS).

WebDemo is available in several different versions. Pricing depends on the desired feature set and the number of concurrent users. Linktivity charges a one-time fee of US$799 for a basic version that allows three concurrent users in a meeting. An annual maintenance contract, covering unlimited customer support and software updates, is offered at 20% of the purchase price. Linktivity will host the server installation if desired. Prospective customers can test WebDemo using a free, 10-day trial license.
