Overview of SOHO Report Chapters

Please find here below a summary overview of the nine chapters making up this report to facilitate your navigation and support the selection of your preferred browsing sequence.

  1. Introduction
This is the section you are reading now. It contains a bunch of useful information about the report and the different parts that make it up. It also contains information about the methodology, selection criteria and process undergone for the preparation of this report.
  2. What is Web Conferencing?
This section summarizes key characteristics of Web conferencing systems and their most popular, effective and in-demand applications.
  3. Types of Web Conferencing Systems - "Enterprise" and SOHO Tools
This section provides a brief introduction to the two main types of Web conferencing tools that are available today: Enterprise systems and SOHO conferencing tools. Differences between the two types of tools, as well as pros and cons of each type, are explained in order to provide a more informed context to support the fruition of this report.
  4. SOHO Systems Reviews
This is the core part of the report. This section comprises 12 full and 3 short reviews. The full reviews alone make up for more than 400 pages of detailed information complemented by more than 600 color screenshots.
  5. Comparison Tables of SOHO Systems
A set of over 20 mini-tables provides a great at-a-glance overview of all of the reviewed systems. You can see immediately which tool has a certain set of features and which tool does not.
  6. Reference Reviews 'Enterprise' Systems
In case you were more interested in the enterprise systems than in these individual-oriented solutions, I have kept three major enterprise Web conferencing systems (WebEx, Centra and Polycom WebOffice) in my report for solid reference and added-value.
  7. Robin Good's Recommended Solutions
Here you can find my frank and synthetic set of recommendations for understanding what each system is best at and which one is best suited for your specific application. From this section you can rapidly decide which one is the best one for you.

I have selected four systems as BEST BUY and I do think that those represent the very best options you have available today.
  8. Features, Facilities and Terminology
This section of the report provides definitions and explanations for most of the terms used in this report and for all terms that make up the grid of features in the Comparison Tables.
  9. Web Conferencing Vendors International 2003 Directory
The directory provides a valuable and up-to-date list of all reviewed Web conferencing vendors plus many more, for a total of over 40 systems. The directory also reveals the contact references and try-out addresses for the systems that I will be including in the next edition of this report (June 2003).

This directory is a useful resource for contacting these companies if you need to receive any extra information relating to their products.
