Audio Conferencing - VoIPText Chat Main Video Conferencing Groove is equipped with an integrated VoIP module that works quite well. The tool is extremely simple and it features only two controls. One to click for talking and the other to lock the microphone in an "on" position, so that one can proceed in making a presentation and navigating different areas collaboratively, without having to keep clicking the "Hold-to-talk" audio chat button.
The audio quality is mediocre. Even on high bandwidth lines there is a "hiss" A fastidious brief noise signals a user opening her microphone to talk. There are two ways for having a live voice conversation:
By activating the "Conference" mode accessible through the Options Menu, participants can voice talk at the same time without waiting for each one to finish.
In the "Options" menu Groove also offers an Audio Tuning wizard that can help users test and set-up properly their audio setup and configuration. Quality of audio is mediocre at best, though acceptable for basic conferences and presentations. During voice conferencing the audio lag maybe at times very significant and up to several seconds creating difficulties in exchanges between participants as questions and answers do not synch up properly. N.B.: While inside the PowerPoint presentation facility a small little triangular button provides access to the audio conferencing feature.
