GoToMeeting enables full recording of any live session with just a simple click.

The GoToMeeting recording facility allows an Organizer to record all screen activity that is presented in the GoToMeeting Viewer window, including desktop and application sharing of other Attendees presenting in the meeting.

The recording includes anything that is shown on the screen including desktop and application sharing sessions delivered by other attendees.

The presenter can also record her own audio as long as she has an audio input device such as a microphone connected to her PC.

The direct recording of a teleconference is not possible outside of positioning the microphone next to the phone or setting up a phone recording adapter connected to your existing telephone system.

Recordings can be paused and re-started without the inconvenience of having multiple files generated. This means that if an Organizer clicks Record to start the recording and then stops the recording and subsequently restarts the recording during the course of one meeting, GoToMeeting will keep recording to one meeting recording file.

All recordings are saved by default to your My Documents folder. You can change the destination location. (GoToMeeting recommends that designated location have a minimum of 1.0GB of free space in order to accommodate long recordings.)

GoToMeeting can record in its own proprietary format or in the Microsoft Windows Media one. With GoToMeeting own proprietary format the recording file is immediately accessible at the end of the session, but to view it users need to install a special GoToMeeting video codec. On the other hand, by selecting to record in Windows Media format some extra time is used at the end of the session to convert the recording in the WMV format. This allows the creation of a recording file that can be distributed and viewed by anyone having a standard Windows Media Player (even on a Mac or Linux computer).

Meeting recording requires Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher. Windows Media Player 9.0 currently supports Windows® 98 SE, 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, 2003 Server.
