Annotation Features - WhiteBoard

GoToMeeting integrates a useful set of live mark-up tools that can be utilized while sharing any type of content.

The live annotation tools are accessible from the bottom icon placed in the mini-toolbar placed on the left edge of the GoToMeeting main control panel.

Three annotation tools are available along with a useful "live pointer" (called Spotlight). The tools available are an highlighter, a pen and an arrow.

The live pointer, highlighter and the arrow tools are all extremely simple and effective to use.

Both individual users, anyone who is a presenter, as well as all participants in a GoToMeeting session can be given permission to annotate and mark-up the content being shared. As each new annotation is created, other participant can immediately start to see it appearing on their screens.

All annotations made can be easily deleted by using the command labelled "Erase all drawings" available in the menu providing access to the individual annotation tools.

Cons:

Annotation tools are difficult to get to. The icon to access them is not prominently placed and, especially for those not having a perfect view and very precise mouse control, a bit too hard to "hit".

When using annotation tools it is not easy to disengage the selected annotation tool and go back to "standard" cursor mode. A dedicated keyboard shortcut or another easy command approach is needed to disengage annotation tools and switch back to standard cursor mode rapidly.

Pen drawing tool offers little or no usefulness. Drawing freehand is just next-to-impossible for standard users utilizing a mouse or a laptop trackpad.
