Setup - InstallationFirewall Friendliness Main Ease of Access Installing Glance is extremely simple. The would-be presenter needs to download Glance and install it on her PC. This is a one-minute operation on fast Internet connections, while it could be a rather long one for anyone connected below 56K. The application to be downloaded weighs at 1.3 MB. The Glance Java viewer applet is by itself only 25 KB in size. Participants do need not to install anything on their computers as long as they have a Java-enabled browser.
According to Glance official FAQ support page: Have your guest check whether her web browser is Java-enabled. Have her visit http://www.glance.net and go to Support > Can You Glance?. After a few seconds, a traffic light should appear in the "Can you Glance" column. If she does not see a traffic light icon indicating her connectivity status, then either a) her web browser is not Java-enabled, or b) her network firewall does not allow unsigned Java applets to reach her PC. Click on the Advanced tab, find the section on Microsoft VM and make sure that JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled is checked. Click OK, then File > Exit on all Internet Explorer windows and try joining again. Alternatively, to get Java, have her visit http://www.java.com to download and install Sun Microsystem's latest Java technology for her browser. If neither of these solutions works, her firewall may have a high security setting that blocks unsigned Java applets from reaching her PC. There is a chance she could join your session using Glance's built-in viewer. 1) Have her install the free Glance software. 2) Have her click the "G" icon next to her PC's clock, and choose Join Session. Otherwise, her firewall must be configured to allow the Java applet through.
