Audio Conferencing - VoIP

« Text Chat | Main | Video Conferencing »

The Meeting Manager control panel allows the activation of the audio chat component of eBLVD Online Meetings which utilizes VoIP (voice over IP).

The voice over IP is not turned on by default and the host/presenter needs to activate it through either the Tools menu or by clicking next to the user that she wants to hand the microphone to.

The audio quality is more than acceptable providing a smooth and reliable user experience even on low connection speeds.

The audio controls are simple and easy to use.

As mentioned, activating the audio channel requires the moderator to switch the audio controls or to click next to the name of the person that wants to speak under the column identified with a microphone icon. The mike can be turned on only for one person at a time.

By default the audio set-up allows the presenter to talk and the participants to listen. Participants in turn can switch on their "talk" capability and intervene in the voice conference.

The talk button can be locked in an "on" position, allowing hads free speech. Manual gain controls for microphone and speakers are also available.

N.B.: eBLVD customer support suggests:
"Only one person can talk at a time, and the system tracks this by seeing which participant has the "talk" button depressed. A user can gain control of the meeting and talk only if all others DO NOT have their talk button depressed.
