Convoq ASAP

Video Conferencing

« Audio Conferencing - VoIP | Main | Desktop - Application Sharing »

Convoq ASAP integrates full videoconferencing capabilities based on the Flash Communication Server platform.

Up to a maximum of two simultaneous video feeds can be shown at anyone time. One feed showes yourself while whoever is elected to be on the "Podium" will appear in the other video window.

Quality of the video is more than acceptable, though this may vary a great deal depending on your specific setup, type of webcam, Internet connection speed and on how you have configured the advanced video controls available.

The video windows can be easily resized and positioned at will inside the videoconferencing area of ASAP.

Several advanced controls are available to the end user to optimize the quality of the video feed being transmitted/received.

The end user can personally adjust the overall quality, the frame rate of the video feed to be sent out as well as several other advanced controls (for which there is unfortunately little or no documentation/help.)

Cons:

  • Showing another participant video feed is not an intuitive operation. One has to switch to the Moderator tab (below the chat area) and then elect to the Podium the person that needs to be seen.

  • Activating one's own video feed may not be intuitive at all times, since there exist multiple controls to apparently switch video on and off.

  • There is no lip-synch between the audio and video image even under the best Internet connection. A small but perceivable delay is generally present between the audio and video transmission.

  • Limited to non-existent documentation about audio and video capabilities, setup and configuration of the same.
