Convoq ASAP is a new pioneering Web conferencing and live presentation tool integrating new cutting-edge features and leveraging to its best the concepts of presence, interoperability with major instant messaging networks and modular access to conferencing facilities.

Completely based on Flash, this new live presentation, collaboration and conferencing technology has indeed lots to offer as it integrates VoIP, video, high quality PowerPoint-to-Flash presentation facilities, and full screen sharing.

ASAP allows anyone to keep its IM (instant messenger) contacts while adding the capability to invite anyone to a rich media exchange. Even if the invitee does not have ASAP installed, the technology facilitates access by providing a Web-based participation option for those who are not licensed users.

Event management facilities, invitations, moderator and participant controls have been designed with a high degree of attention to details and to make the system effectively useful. ASAP can indeed be said to have strongly focused and worked around the core concept of convocation management, something indeed, that in times of virtual presence is gradually assuming a critical status.

The ASAP interface is particularly well designed, as it adopts a quiet and soft front end that is never overbearing or too complex too understand. In particular, icons and small fine controls show a high level of refinement and attention to usability issues.

Audio and video performance are more than acceptable but do require at least a double ISDN line or a slow ADSL to be used together effectively.

Video can be indeed used as an option, and both the presenter and attendees are always in control of the quality and size of the video received.

A few usability and technical issues may still prevent novice users from taking full advantage of all of ASAP advanced features, and in particular screen sharing. Though the facility does work as advertised, access, activation and overall system feedback may yet need a few refinements before being ready for prime time.

Overall this is one of the most interesting, innovative and capable technologies available in the market at cost-effective prices.

Results are not only impressive, but fast to load, capable of preserving animation and effects, and scalable to any screen size.

If you make daily use of IM networks for your work, need to present to small to medium sized audiences PowerPoint presentations in high quality, and want to also deliver audio and video with it, you can only find lower quality solutions than ASAP.

Price is right, customer support is good, and if version 1 is any indication, this is one the tools that are really going to make a difference.
