PowerPoint Presentation Facilities

« Weak Points | Main | Web-Touring - Co-Browsing »

Conferral provides an integrated PowerPoint presentation facility which allows the presenter to easily upload and deliver presentations online.

The presentation window is a non-resizable window which delivers the presentation in the same resolution (800x600) and color depth (24bit color) to all attendees.

Presentations (in PPT 97 or newer format) can be either uploaded in the Presentation Library before a live meeting or they can be "served" during a live screen-sharing session by running the selected presentation on the host computer.

The Presentation Library facility provides a storage area for presentations that may need to be used multiple times or which need to be ready for immediate delivery.

When a PowerPoint presentation is uploaded to the Conferral Presentation Library it is automatically prepared for online presentation by converting slides into image files that are easily presented and viewed in the attendee’s web browser. .....

The Conferral presenter has direct view of the slide being showcased as well as of the thumbnails of the other slides in the presentation. A vertical strip running on the left side of the screen provides at-a-glance view of several slides thumbnails and direct display of them for the live attendees with just one-click on them.

Next to the use of the thumbnail strip as a means of accessing specific slides, during delivery of a presentation a simple set of navigation buttons displayed on the top left part of the presentation window allow the presenter to move through the available slides or to jump to the first or last slide at will.

The presentation can be viewed in full screen by simply clicking the dedicated feature button available on the top right side of the Conferral presentation window. Conferral full-screen mode simply maximizes the Conferral window to be the only one visible, though the slides are not resized to fill the full screen estate.

An On-demand feature also allows the presenter to send out email invitations and to allow each and every invitee to view the presentation at his preferred time and pace. The invitation sent out contains a link to the actual presentation on the presenter PC which the end user can view and control as preferred.

Keep in mind that Conferral requires that PowerPoint 2000 or newer version is installed on the host PC.

Cons:

  1. Animations, transitions and builds are not supported

  2. No markup or live annotation tools are available

  3. Full screen display is not effectively implemented

  4. On-demand feature requires presenter PC to be turned "on" and connected to the Internet
