Cata

Weak Points

« Key Strengths | Main | PowerPoint Presentation Facilities »

  • It does not support audio of its own. Must be utilized together with an audio conferencing tool either telephone-based or IP-based. No VoIP is available.
  • There are no participant-centered feedback controls allowing attendees to provide immediate feedback.
  • Co-browsing provides only a web-push capability which opens up a new browser window with the selected Web page on the attendees screen. If the moderator navigates the Internet the participants are not synched unless she pushes each new URL to them.
  • Images cannot be easily imported or pasted into the whiteboard area.
  • Access to the Administrator's User Guide is not as easy, fast and smooth as it should be. The file is a hefty 637 KB PDF file which may be not a problem for broadband users but it is certainly a pain to download for anybody with a dial-up connection.
  • Cata requires Java and under certain circumstances the version you may have already installed on your PC may get in the way of certain Cata facilities(e.g.: Uploading PowerPoint files and .jpg images). The workaround is to deactivate the Sun Java JRE to make these functionalities work. The issue is being addressed.
