Robin Good's Mini Guide
The RSS NewsMaster's Toolkit
This ebook is dedicated to those who wish to ride the RSS wave and create topic-specific custom news feeds as well as to those who wish to create niche, vertical content web sites that showcase always updated information aggregated around vertical topics.
I have decided to call such highly focused information channels, RSS Radars, no matter in which format or through which type of channels they are being published (HTML, RSS, etc.).
RSS Radars can be in turn labeled in more specific ways depending on the type of content or purpose they are being used for. For example:
- Information Radars
- News Radars
- Opinion Radars
- Event Radars
- People Radars
and so on.
The reason that has brought me to re-write this Mini-Guide from page one ebook is that I see this use and application of RSS as a breakthrough opportunity for content publishers, news sites and online marketing specialists to truly leverage the potential of RSS to the nth power.
While over a year ago I was only envisaging the general traits and feel for this newly emerging application, I am back now with lots of references and good examples showcasing that RSS Radars are rapidly become a reality.
This third edition of the RSS NewsMaster's Toolkit is a complete rewrite of the original, much more modest NewsMaster's Toolkit originally published in 2003, and it includes over thirty new tools and services that were not previously covered.
As I see it, RSS Radars are the information distribution wave of the future.
Of one thing you can be sure: RSS Radars will be soon showing up at a site near you.

About this Mini-Guide
Like the other Mini-Guides I have written before, the RSS NewsMaster's Toolkit, is a valuable piece of independent research that contains information that you cannot easily find elsewhere. As a matter of fact, what I have written in this new, completely overhauled Third Edition, is not available anywhere else but in this guide.
The scope of the guide is to provide a clear expalanation of steps needed to create topic-specific news channels that aggregate together multiple information sources. The Mini-Guide provides dirct access and reference to all of the tools required to create effective RSS Information Radars.
This Mini-Guide is the result of many months of personal work and experimentation, and it has not been prompted or commissioned by any third-party sponsor involved in this field. Its creation has been prompted by my personal interest and fascination with the opportunities offered by RSS and the first primitive filtering and aggregating technologies.
In the Mini-Guide I provide all of the information and references you need to be able to create Niche Information Channels And Topic-specific Websites with RSS feeds.
The new RSS NewsMaster's Toolkit now includes:
- 48 Tools To Create RSS-based Content Feeds +
- 29 Tools To Aggregate, Filter And Syndicate Online RSS-based Content Feeds
Specifically, the Mini-Guide focuses on the basic workflow techniques and on all the tools that allow you to:
- Create RSS feeds from major information sources like search engines, information directories and standard web sites
