Wow, my heart seriously goes out to all those who lost lives, and loved ones...it's breathtakingly devastating to know such things happened.

I must say I'm disappointed seeing people comment about this being a punishment from god. Such an idea is rather barbaric to me, I think god could do much better than that. It's not like people who lose their lives in a disaster, all coincidentially fall under the catergory of people who did not believe, or sinned, or whatever-it was either people who miscalculated the pending devastation, people who were uninformed or unable in some way to save themselves, or people who just didn't care.

But to think that a natural disaster is a punishment is almost silly. Really, I live in Massachusetts, where we get far less devastating disasters than many other parts of the country and the world. So does anyone think that us in Mass are all simultaneously pissing off god the least? Hell, our bible-based percentages of believers are less than some other states that suffer tsunami's hurricanes, tornadoes, and others I'm sure that I have not listed.

I must stress that I am in no way trying to say that any states are "guilty" of "angering god", rather that such an idea, again, is ludicrous. I have seen good people suffer, and not-so-nice people win. Life just doesn't seem to add up that way.

How are people stupid enough to end up in the water, fighting for survival, when there are buildings and trees and stairs all over the place. Instead they're like "Oh look, a tsunami's coming. I'll just stay right here and maybe it will go around me."

What really gets me is when it's the second one that's on it's way and people are still wading around. What are they thinking? "I need to wade on over to the fish market before it closes at six." "Let's see if any exotic new sea-shells washed up."

I think this proves that Darwin is right. Stupid people get taken out. It's got nothing to do with God.

Unfortunately 1000's of people lost their lives to the tsunami, another natural disaster with nothing to do with religion.. I am not a believer nor am I a disbeliever in God or Allah but I will never deter from those that do. Whenever a disaster occurs though why do people apportion blame to these gods, one must remember that the earth is also Lucifers playground and it would be he who creates or encourages such evil acts.

I have all of them in my thoughts, and pray to whatever god you want to take the pain and suffering away from the relatives and friends that survived. Personally, I don't believe it was, even though I believe fully in God, but everyone has his or her own opinion, as you just expressed yours on why there was a tsunami in the first place and I agree with you. You can disagree, but there's no reason to be so harsh. Believing in God and Allah is a big comfort for many who suffered in the tsunami.

Watching these videos is challenging. Beg or lame our gods but the fact it a part of the earth was moving. This moving of 3 plates caused the violent waves to emerge. These sort of things have happened over the centuries because our planet is forever changing and moving, whether at the will of our god's or not.
It is a massive loss but we are all at the mercy of what this planet is capable of. I'd rather lose my life this way then amongst the wars over land, money and greed.

My son was born Christmas day 2004. This Tsunami will always be in my memory. Just too sad, I couldn't watch most of the videos especially knowing how many children died and knowing some are taped here. Just too sad, I just watched the Tsunami movie and cried throughout the whole movie. These images are overwhelming, just unimaginable, My heart goes out to all the victims.
