Skype Launches Version One

Skype has just announced the official launch of its final version 1.0 release. The very popular and free Voice-over-IP software has recruited over 7 million users around the world in just about one year since its first release.

The new official release consolidates all of the great features introduced before while adding the new SkypeOut service/facility and some other great new tools. With it, Skype users can dial-out from their PC to any telephone number (landline or mobile) in the world at local call rates simply by subscribing to a pre-paid service Skype has just introduced.

The new Skype version 1 introduces also file transfers of up to 2 gigabytes among other software enhancements. Skype offers excellent ease-of-use and outstanding quality on good high-bandwidth connection lines. Skype integrates instant messaging, conference calling, and a public directory of users (it is optional to show up in there).

Skype has some great privacy features, and encrypts all live voice and data communications. It works on PCs, Linux and PocketPC computers. The new just released free version 1.0 is immediately downloadable.
