How To Be A Successful Online Student

Few resources are available to help students determine if they should pursue online learning. Even less is available to help students manage an online course successfully.

For those of you who are planning to attend an online course here is some sound and straightforward advice well rooted in the typical frustrations and obstacles encountered by an organized person when switching to a cyber learning world.

The tactics suggested are good and to the point, helping even the most organized and methodical persons to understand that in this virtual ecosystem things can get slippery indeed.

To the great ten tips listed by Mark Evans I would only add prompt adoption of a wiki and a blog. A wiki, for the class to hold in one centralized repository all discoveries, resources and references that are open, public and of general interest.

The blog, reserved for individual students, helps tremendously in creating effective notes, publishing reports and assignments in a publicly readable format, and providing a useful outlet for critical thinking and research work.
