Best Online Resource About Digital Imaging: TASI

If you are looking for an online resource that provides advice and guidance to creating digital images (including raster, vector and animated formats), delivering digital images to users, using digital images to support teaching, learning and research, managing both small and large scale digitisation projects, you need not to look further than TASI (Technical Advisory Service for Images). Let me say that this is really a one-of-a-kind digital imaging resource, that has no equals in terms of quality of information, accessibility, breadth and depth of references. If you work for an organization or on your own and you need to understand the different aspects of digitizing/scanning, creating an image archive, adopting a taxonomy/vocabulary and posting your collection online TASI has extensive and highly readable information on all of these topics. There is really not one topic that TASI leaves out of its extensive array of topics and sections and that I would have liked to be covered but didn't find. If I could express a wish, I would love to (help) see their workshops being offered online both as asynchronous modules, resellable and rebrandable by other institutions, as well as live online workshops delivered by their excellent staff. Blending the two would also offer an extra opportunity for both the audience and the content providers. The Technical Advisory Service for Images is a JISC funded service (Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) supports further and higher education in the UK by providing strategic guidance, advice and opportunities to use Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to support teaching, learning, research and administration). TASI is hosted by the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) at the University of Bristol.
