New Media Picks Of The Week: Sharewood Picnic 41

 

Here is a new basket full of delicacies for our weekend Sharewood Picnic.

New media resources and tools gathered during the past 10-15 days await your testing and validation before everyone else hears about them. Here are in fact what I consider the most interesting new media tools, resources and pointers I have run into during my daily research and explorations.

This week too I have a great list of new media gems that can enable, augment, enhance anyone's ability to inform oneself and to communicate more effectively with others in many new and innovative ways.

Here is what I have found:

  1. Send SMS messages worldwide from email, mobile phone or the web

  3. Online book publishing made easy and affordable for everyone

  4. New media tracking and monitoring service for podcasts

  5. Send voice-based emails

    ipipi is a service that allows you to send SMS text messages worldwide from the web, email, or from any mobile phone. ipipi works anywhere around the world with an official global coverage of over 140 countries/networks. SONR's innovative tool delivers podcasting statistics (and later, video statistics) to content providers by tracking detailed information on how listeners interact with the provider's content (pauses, rewinds, etc), including how much of the podcast episode was listened to. Add your podcast information to the SONR system and when listeners open your file (through your site), SONR's media player will be launched and record any user interaction.   9. BlastPodcast

    Blast Podcast, Inc. has released their BlastPlayer for both hosted and non-hosted audio and video podcast distribution allowing advertiser matching and monetization of content distribution via ads to be inserted in your programming. Blast Podcast's proprietary technology software matches publisher content against advertising inventory looking for targeted niche markets. Blast Podcast also provides tracking mechanisms that ensure detailed and up-to-date, real time statistics. Audio ads are typically 10 to 20 seconds and may be inserted at the beginning, end or middle of the show. Ads can be created by you or Blast Podcast.

    If you want to track all referrers (people linking to or mentioning your content) to your blog posts, or RSS-based news items, Reeferss provides a free solution to this. By placing a small snippet of HTML code in your web site templates all the referrers to your pages containing that code will be tracked by Reeferss. You can then easily access that information both via a reporting web page or via a RSS feed and see all of the referrers to your specific content and how many visitors each one has provided.   11. High Speed Conferencing
