Project Steve Guttenberg (PSG) is a PHP-driven diary/journal/blogging application that integrates seamlessly into any existing Web site.

To utilize Project Steve Guttenberg you need to have a Web server that you can access and on which a PHP-based application can be installed.

This means that if you already have a Web site and someone that can handle some PHP knowledge for you in your IT department, you can get a journalling system set up very rapidly at next to zero cost.

Tell your technical person that one of PSG's core principles is its lack of dependencies - you don't need a MySQL database or anything else, just PHP.

PSG provides many of the core features (including comments, archives, searching, and an RDF feed) and administrative controls (all Web-based) of other, larger systems like Movable Type and P-Machine, but doesn't use a database.

PSG is XHTML 1.0-compliant and its look can be completely customised via CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) .

PSG can easily be scaled to host several journal sites with a single installation.

PSG is open source and is free.
