Sayz Me
http://sayzme.sourceforge.net/
= must have
Software Tool (Win)
FREE

Sayz Me is a simple, open source (BSD loicense) text-to-speech reader that can read text aloud from Web pages, e-mails, or documents.

Still in its Alpha testing phase the program nonetheless shows good promise of what the final application may offer.

Sayz Me, uses the Microsoft speech engine and synthetic voices.

It can be used to listen to content being read from any source from which content can be easily copied and pasted or from new comntent that you type in its own editor.

To view a screenshot of this application and a list of all the commands available once it is installed please refer to:
http://sayzme.sourceforge.net/ and scroll down the page to find out more.

Sayz Me allows you to adjust pitch, speed, and volume, select a voice of your choice, and highlight words as they are spoken.

System Requirements:

Sayz Me has been tested on Windows 98, 2000 and XP.
It requires Microsoft Speech API 4.0
(http://sayzme.sourceforge.net/ spchapi.exe)
and Microsoft Synthetic Voices
(http://sayzme.sourceforge.net/ msttsl.exe).

Make sure "spchapi.exe" is installed first followed by "msttsl.exe". (These files are automatically installed by default by the Win2000 installation).

More information about the myriad of Speech setups can be found at the Microsoft Speech website at:
